On friday evening jq and I had a very good meal at Au Petit Salut. :):) No pics cos the lighting made all the pics turn out blur and gross. :( But still! Had garlic butter escargots and margaritas and the most amazing crispy duck confit and apple tart with icecream and lavender honey. And it was all good. :):) And he had steak which I did not try cos it was medium rare and bloody. Wheeeeee I wanna go back and try more stuff!

On sat afternoon I dragged him to the SN funfair. Felt qt bad after that cos it was v v crowded and there were screaming girls all around. And the food was v ex. And also I made him sit some centrifugal thing that went round and round and after that he felt sick. Heee so lousy. Lala but it was nice exploring SN again. To think it's going to be all pulled down. :(:( My canteen. My fam lounge. My library. My playground. My lower concourse with the hopscotch. My new extension. My amphitheatre. It's v sad. I hope they construct it back to the way it was, just with like newer materials. :(:(:(:( the centrifuge thingum.

On sunday it was high tea at sarah's! First time I saw her since she came back. Sarah is amusing and princessy as ever. She made sandwiches = her maid cut the ingredients and she put some of it together. She made cute teacup decorations = she drew the teacups, her maid cut them out. She scooped the watermelon = she did the first scoop ONLY. Heh. BUT I'll have to say that the chocolate pudding with the pink lemon sauce was good. :):) Haha and I msged jy at 3.30, one hour before tea, to ask if she was bringing anything over. And she said sth like 'yup if i have the time to make sth before then'. And she really did manage to make sth! And it was a v yummy 'extreme banana cake'. Heee our high tea lasted like five hours. We basically talked and talked and talked and ate and ate and ate. And laughed over our old childish selves. It is really too embarrassing to relate. dee & sarah!

Today when I was jogging around my estate, I saw four little triangle heads staring at me. And as I jogged past, I realised that they were very little kittens! Got a huge shock and leaped out of the way. So after I got home I dragged my sis out to look at them. There are four of them, three black-and-white, and one grey, and they are tiny. And kind of cute, for cats. (But still, they are cats.) And they prance and lollop around. There was no mother cat around and they were mewing pitifully at the side of the road so I think they've been abandoned. I didn't know if I should feed strays but they were so small and helpless. I kind of threw the bread and water at my sis and stayed a safe distance away. Boo I really hope they are okay and that they don't run onto the road. (Even though they should really stay far away from me.) kitten!!

Lalala. Why am I still slacking. Once it hits the one-month-to-exams mark, I'll start work, promise.

Ate a lot today. Ate chicken rice with zi char stuff after lecture then Sarpino's pizza for my second lunch! Then watched Vantage Point with jq. It's not bad. But I had to watch the President get assassinated many times over, which is really a bit too thrilling for me. BUT! After the first few times I knew exactly when he was going to be shot, so I could prepare. Heee.

Then met jy, dee and beek for dinner! We are v greedy. Had xiao cai and xiao long bao and fried rice at Din Tai Fung. Then chicken bryani and teh tarik and naan with butter chicken at food republic. Then walked around randomly buying Famous Amos cookies and brownies etc. And looking for my Reese's pieces! Which are still sadly nowhere to be found. Shall try liberty.

Lalala <3 girlfriend talk. We have concluded that we are a sad bunch, much like Carrie and her friends in SATC except that we'd star in Food and the City. And walk around v unglamly and block the sidewalk walking in a row cos we'd gain so much weight. And every episode will feature us going to some new food haunt and then being v sleepy after so there'd be no climax. I think I am babbling. Ohh and our trip!! We've alr planned out outfits for the boxing day sales in London! (Snug top, skirt with leggings, forget the coat and heels.) Can't wait to go Europe I really hope it doesn't fall through. WHEE! :):)

Online shopping is like a competitive sport. Blink, and you're out.

Monday, March 24, 2008 7:51 PM

I know I'm supposed to have stopped playing and started studying, but I haven't really seemed to... yet. Every week the tutorials are enough to kill.

Last wed, we spontaneously decided to go bowling. It was pretty fun. Hadn't bowled in ages, and it showed - my highest score was like 56. Haha. But then I've always been qt a horrible bowler. Jq was good (as is to be expected), jb was v stylish, and mich had a damn cute way of bowling (though I have been informed that this is how they train amateur bowlers)! She'd walk right up to the front and the swing her arm back and forth slowly and then let go and the ball would roll right down the middle. Heee. Pak and sam were v entertaining cos they were being neanderthals, competing to see who would get the girl (who is still unidentified). Haha but I beat pak in the second game! Cos he was frazzled. Qt an achievement. :):)

pak and mich

Met dee, glenda, beek and jy (who is back from the land of... Coldplay) that night for dinner at chomps! Lalala. Jy bought us nice macaroons from this place called Pierre Herme or sth like that. We'd take a bite and pass it on so we each got to try all the different macaroons. So unhygienic haha. And we ate so much. We had orh lua and chai tau kueh and hokkien mee and two types of kueh bai di and chicken wings and then we each had one bowl of egg tau huey with orh ni (or some such dessert). Happy. Love food. :):) Sarah you must come the next time!

Ohh I said I'd be baking and I have!! On monday I baked lemon squares. And on sat I baked almond apple bars. Qt a long, many-layered recipe, but the good thing is that most of it is electrically mixed (as opposed to hand mixed) so it was just tedious but not tiring. I have concluded that they taste better after being refrigerated for awhile. But yay! Successful recipe. Can make again next time. :) And then as I was alr dirty I decided to help my mom make pineapple tarts (cos we still had a whole packet of pineapple paste).

a small slice of almond apple bar.
my psychotic pineapple bunny.

Sat night I attended risse's 21st birthday party at her house. It was fun. :):) I foresee attending a lot of 21st birthdays this year. The thing is, although I enjoy attending 21st parties, I don't think I'd want one myself. Too much hostessing for me to really be able to enjoy my own party.

Heee today I finally tried the Posh brownies that I'd been wanting to try for ever so long (uh, abt three weeks). And I have to say, they are amazing. SO GOOD. Best brownies I've ever had, and they're the chewy sort, which is my favourite. Now that lent is over, I'm going to find the perfect brownie recipe. Slightly fudgey, slightly chewy. Can't wait!! :):) Happy Easter, all! :)

brooooowwnniiiieeeessssss

Belief is a strange thing.

It is entirely subjective and no matter how objective you'd like it to be, it just doesn't work that way.

There are some things you want to believe in, and struggle to believe in, because it'd make your life that much easier. Like religion and people and the good in humanity. But if you don't, you don't, and there's nothing you can do about it because at the end of the day you're the only one answerable to your conscience.

And sometimes you want to believe someone, to believe in someone, but you can't, no matter how much you want to. And that's just the way it is.

I know all about being on the other side.

But sometimes, when you're the one being disbelieved, you can't help but feel like you're smacking your head against the wall. You can't help but want to scream. You want to be able to project your thoughts out on a screen, you want nothing more than to be believed, but there is absolutely nothing you can do.

After two weeks of hell ended last thur, I could slack again. Went for law ball on Friday, which was fun. The pageant contestants were spontaneous and a half-drunk Vishal emceeing was v entertaining. Ohh but the after-party was not as fun. I couldn't drink, and it turned out that our entries to Zouk did not extend to Phuture, so the music was pretty bad. Ohh well. We'll club proper after exams!

some of the guys, doing a reenactment of last yr's law ball GQ shot. the rest were scattered around somewhere. more photos on facebook, as always.

Watched two children's movies over the weekend - The Spiderwick Chronicles and Horton Hears a Hoo - both of which were surprisingly good. And I made flapjacks for my family on Sunday. :)
see the sides are a bit chow da. but it was nice! :):)
Now it's Monday, and back to the grind. Thankfully I have no tuition for the next couple of weeks. More baking coming up!

Thursday, March 13, 2008 3:39 AM

3.39am and I just found out that I haven't been counting footnotes. Omg. After slogging and slogging, I have another 521 words to cut. Urgh.

Monday, March 10, 2008 9:39 PM

It happened again!! I was playing facebook hangman and then BAM! There it was: D E M O C R A C Y.

Sad.

I must stop making such short pointless posts.

But I can't help it. Attempting to do work makes me blog a lot. And eat a lot. NO MORE CHIPS AFTER 12!!

12:12 PM

I am very hungry.

Tastespotting is evil.

I can't wait for our EP assignment to be over so that I can try all the pancake recipes.

Also can't wait for Lent to be over so that I can try all the chocolate recipes.

HURRY HURRY!

Sunday, March 09, 2008 9:32 PM

There are signs.

I try to take a break from public law by watching Sex & the City, and the episode title? Evolution.

I try to find Wang Lee Hom lyrics online, and apparently he has an album entitled 'White Paper'.

-_-

Friday, March 07, 2008 3:13 AM

Nearing the end of my equity test (with 244 words to cut), the part of my body which hurts the most is not my head but my elbows, which have been perched all day on the table while I typed away.

Lousy, lousy.

Next up, 3500 words on evolutionary/revolutionary elected presidency. Omg.

I had the most disturbing dream last night. I dreamt of my sister's hamster, who/which died about 5 or 6 years ago.

In my dream I was playing with it and feeding it, but it crawled out through a small space in the gate. I yelled for my sis to come cos I was scared to go catch it. When she came I took a long time to unlock the gate cos there were many bunches of keys hanging around and I didn't know which key was the right one. By the time I opened the gate, it had started raining outside. My sis went out and I could hear her shouting at her hamster not to do something. Her screams got louder and more urgent. When I went out, my sis was crouched at the side of the covered drain. I pulled open the cover and there it was, unmoving, spreadeagle, as water washed over it. The last I can remember is asking my sis to please get it.

I think I was so traumatised that I woke up.

How is it possible that even though we have less than 14 hours of lessons in a week (11 hours if you skip lcs, which is likely), and only two substantive modules, THERE IS JUST NO TIME??

Everyday it's just equity and public law and equity and public law, back and forth, and IT NEVER ENDS. The amount of readings I do will only ever be a blot on the total amount of readings we're supposed to do. I don't think it's from a cavalier attitude towards my studies either, because even though I go out, I do spend a fair amount frantically typing notes on my laptop and trying to make sense of judgments.

AND EXAMS ARE NOT EVEN APPROACHING.

(sorry for all the caps.)

1:16 PM

On fri night I went to the Night Safari with my family! Heee. It was qt fun, I think I prefer it to the zoo cos it's not so hot and stinks less and you can see the animals much closer up. :) But flash photography was not allowed, so I couldn't take any photos of the animals. :( daddy, sis and mommy.

Last night we went to Brewerkz to celebrate the whole lot of birthdays upcoming and just passed. The turnout was very good! 30+ people went; we filled two tables. :):) HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOJOY, MINGLEZZZ, ZOOBS & KOX! :)
the birthday people + keith
pak, jb, chengying, BEER TOWER #6, zhengx, mich

our bill, the most fantastic part of the night. 491.00 + 558.40 = damn a lot of money.

Lalala. Can't wait till I can drink again. More photos on facebook!

cher
21, in law school and loving it (most of it, at least). a sucker for white roses and fairytale endings, snail mail and pretty cupcakes. emo songs are soul food. tea and chocolate are staples. food is happy stuff. everyone should read to kill a mockingbird and the desiderata, and watch amelie, and bake bread just for the smell of it. walking at night is nice, sometimes.

hello there :)
