Watched Breakfast at Tiffany's with beek, dee, glenda, jy & sarah (back from oxford&obs!) at the National Museum on Fri night. It was v lovely. We spread a mat on the ground and picnicked under a starry sky with a hundred other people and Audrey Hepburn, who is amazingly pretty. Sarah and I concluded that if Holly Golightly had been acted by someone less stunning, people would've found her extremely annoying and weird. But Audrey Hepburn pulled the role off wonderfully. She reminds me of a doe.

(stolen off j's blog)

Then off to meet the Fri night people at Indochine. Fri night is shrinking. :(:( I think it's cos of the late notice and matric. But we had fun anyway. :) Heh we bluffed the waiter it was gary's birthday, so we got to eat jojoy's cake.

My Saturday in food :):)

ramen ramen burger men! :):) heh that sounds retarded. but this place has the loveliest soup ever. / fish & co!! / white choc macadamia cake, the nicest thing in secret recipe :):)

This is how it happens.

You're cradling a priceless Ming vase in your arms-- one instance of folly, and it's gone, and you're lying beneath a shower of shards.

12:04 AM

Where are we?
What the hell is going on?
The dust has only just begun to form,
Crop circles in the carpet, sinking, feeling.
Spin me round again and rub my eyes.
This can't be happening.
When busy streets a mess with people
would stop to hold their heads heavy.

Hide and seek.
Trains and sewing machines.
All those years they were here first.

Oily marks appear on walls
Where pleasure moments hung before.
The takeover, the sweeping insensitivity of this
still life.

Hide and seek.
Trains and sewing machines. (Oh, you won't catch me around here)
Blood and tears,
They were here first.

Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that you only meant well? Well, of course you did.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that it's all for the best? Ah of course it is.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that it's just what we need? And you decided this.
Mmm what you say?
What did she say?

Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth.
Mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut-outs.
Speak no feeling, no I dont believe you.
You don't care a bit. You don't care a bit.

Finally done with Potter!! Kind of sad that there's nothing more to look forward to though. :(

Progress was very slow on Saturday cos 1) I overslept, and was late meeting my friends (but I still got my owl!!); 2) We spent a lot of time eating; 3) We spent a lot of time chatting over empty cups of other ppl's coffee; 4) I attended my baby cousin's birthday party.

Nevertheless, I've finished it and it's v v good. :):) Won't say much, lest I spoil it for other people, but the ending (the general ending, not literally the last bit of the book, which jy was so disgusted with) was satisfactory; there was closure but it wasn't clogged with too many details. Fanfic writers will have a field day filling in all the missing scenes. :)

Paranoia.

It's amazing how the teensiest things matter now.

I am completely and utterly HORRIFIED by our timetable for next sem.

Our earliest (ending) day is 5pm. FIVE. P.M. Wth wth wth. Starting late is a minor consolation. But the timetable given so far is just for lectures. For all I know, tutorials start at 9am then the lectures start at 4pm or sth. But then again, I hope I don't get a part-time tutor who starts tutorials at 8pm.

I guess this means I have to either (a) drastically cut down on giving tuition; (b) give tuition till late at night; (c) give tuition on weekends. None of which sound in the least bit appealing, except maybe for (a), but then I'd have to consider the loss of income. Booooooo.

Today we went to a sec school for flag. We sat in on the assembly, which I found highly disturbing. The teachers who conducted it seemed so smug about lording it over all the students, whom they made say the pledge three times. The whole thing just struck me as being incredibly stifling. Maybe it's the school, but I think it's more likely that it's just that I haven't been in such a situation for a long time now.

Yesterday was such a lovely day. :)

I woke up late, and spent most of the day slinking around the house and reading. I just love lazy mornings/afternoons. :) In the evening, I went for og 7 (the new og 7 LUST, not the 2006 one) bbq at meiyu's place. We played murderer (the polar bear version), which was surprisingly fun. I was murderer the first two times and both times the murderers outsmarted the villagers & detectives! Heh. Am good.

Pak and jon have been making fun of my blogging. BEHIND MY BACK. (It's still considered behind my back even if they come and tell me later. Hmph.) :(:( Boo must blog about more serious stuff.

Sunday, July 15, 2007 12:20 AM

So sleepy. I have no idea why; I've been getting 9/10 hours of sleep every night since I came back from hk. I think I didn't sleep well last night cos of my nightmare. Dreamt I was being chased by a mouse. V similar to the Tom&Jerry mouse, and just as sneaky. :( And I ran from room to room in my house trying to hide but it kept popping up. :(:( The dream was v vivid and when I woke up my heart was pounding.

Yes, I lead a sad existence.

It feels like the hols are ending v soon, although it's a few weeks more till school reopens. I think it's a relative thing. So many things I wanna do but I keep procrastinating. My cousin just passed driving on her first try. And she's my age! So I'm feeling v slack now. Heh. Really need to get started on lessons. Urgh. Also need to come up with better expressions than 'heh' and 'urgh' and ':('.

And I really need to clear my room. I have no space for anything, and I keep tripping over stuff. -_-

17 people, 6 full days and all our tuition income in Hong Kong, the land of dimsum and unbelievably efficient (if sometimes brusque) service and zhap dripping from aircon vents. :)
the guys minus jgan.
the girls.

Day 1:
Woke up at Clarisse's and set off for the airport at 4.30am in the morn. -_- Slept thru the flight and bought $3 bottled water on the plane cos of the stupid liquids rule. Checked into our rooms at Haiphong Mansion (it sounds grander than it really is) at Tsim Tsa Tsui then went shopping at Harbour City! T'was v atas so the girls went across the road, where we found Zara. Where we spent a few hours and many trips to the dressing room. I finally emerged with two pieces and S$80 poorer. Which is quite a lot to spend for shopping in hk but one of the pieces was exactly what I'd been looking for for months. So wheeee. :):)

caitlin / caits baked us cupcakes!! :) / jgan & risse / caits, mich & sharm / jb, sam & zhengx / mmm food / nai cha! / yummy mango dessert / mich & mo

Day 2:
Went down to Langham Place but the stuff there was really ex so we adjourned to Fa Yuen Street, where the stuff was much much cheaper and so the shopping was much much better. Bought many happy things! :) We were v v tired by the time we got back but we dressed up and got ready to go clubbing anyway. Clubbing in HK is about the same as in Singapore. For Ladies' Night, the girls got in free with two free drinks. The guys paid S$40 and cheong-ed their free flow of drinks. The shots just kept coming. Ohh and they played English songs! Haha. V good cos I can't imagine dancing to canto songs.

risse, zhengx, dennis, jojoy / jgan, sam, jon , risse / sharm, jojoy, me, jq, chris / roomie & i! / jojoy & sharm! / breakfast!
jq & i / jojoy & mich in pretty dresses! / guys on the mtr / langham place / bus stop IN langham place / meee / wanton mee! / fa yuen street / pastries from an old school bakery!
mich, sharm & i, in the toilet mirror / me & jq / weijia & charlene / jon & jojoy! / charlene, caits, sharm & mich / the guys & beer / tequila shots! / ganses :) / caits & mich!

Day 3:

Everyone woke up rather late cos of clubbing the night before. Had a yummy lunch then took a ferry down to Causeway Bay, where there was H&M! :) Bought 3 dresses and a sweater top and I maxed out my spending for the day. Boo. Haha but that night I bought another top and satisfied my KFC craving. :) KFC tastes exactly the same in HK. Globalisation. -_-

jq's mimsy earring / shao la! / shrimp dumplings!! / the ferry / weijia & charlene / me & jq / view from the ferry / caits, mich, chris, sharm / cute icecream man!

outside H&M, with our purchases :)

Day 4:

Pak brought us to this old school dimsum place. It was packed with the Saturday morning crowd of old people drinking tea (with real tea leaves!) from bowls and eating dimsum while reading the papers. V crowded so we all split up. I ended up at a table with Jq, Weijia & Charlene, and two HK-ers. One of them was this super friendly old man who made recommendations and joked around with jq (who was v happily showing off his cantonese). More shopping in Causeway Bay, then went back to Haiphong Mansion to dump our stuff before going off again to Granville & Uniqlo. Bought more happy stuff! Wheeeee! :):)

jq & i / the ganses bathed in nice warm light / girls in blue! / dimsumplace / har gao! my fav / fan gun / new necklace!! :) / haha we went to hug / egg & luncheon meat on rice

Day 5:

Chris, Caitlin & I went for Mass in the morning! At St. Peter's Church, which is really more a chapel in a building. There were lots of Filipinos and they were really fervent! It's comforting to know that Mass is the same everywhere (although some of the tunes were unfamiliar). :) After that, went to Prince Edward to find the rest at Fa Yuen Street. Bought many things in the span of two hours or so, v chopchop. Then we chanced upon Krispy Kreme! Haha we were v excited. Had v yummy doughnuts for lunch. :)

icecream van! / krispy kreme!! / strawberry cheesecake & pistachio, both of which are v nice / macdonalds

Day 6:

Last day. By this time I was dead broke. Had a western breakfast at Cafe de Coral, a rather ex dimsum lunch at Very Good Seafood Restaurant then I had no money to shop alr. Saved all my money for KKs. :)

breakfast / my new shades! / pak our tourguide / caits & sharm / weijia & charlene in matching batman tees! / duck's tongue -__- / zhengx / our v cool teapots with bling! / jon & pak are highly amused
jojoy beside her giant bag (containing all her shopping) / the room sharm & i shared / all packed up and ready to go / jq, lugging my bags and his :)

Back from hk and I have tuition EVERYDAY. Boooo. I miss hk. :(

Tuesday, July 10, 2007 12:11 PM

Hiii I'm back from hk! :):)

Can't tell you how much I missed my bed and my bathroom. But now I'm gonna miss shopping. Boo. Photos will be up soon. :)

cher
21, in law school and loving it (most of it, at least). a sucker for white roses and fairytale endings, snail mail and pretty cupcakes. emo songs are soul food. tea and chocolate are staples. food is happy stuff. everyone should read to kill a mockingbird and the desiderata, and watch amelie, and bake bread just for the smell of it. walking at night is nice, sometimes.

hello there :)
