Am v v sleepy. Can barely keep my eyes open. And it's only eleven. And I've got to read cases for torts lecture tmr and try to finish at least a very rough draft of my closed memo by tonight. Closed memo is killing me. The thing about assignments now is that I can't do them on autopilot, no more algebra and applying formulas. I don't just have to think, I have to really concentrate to be able to get what the cases are about and it's tiring. But thank goodness contract tutorials are only fortnightly.

Met haz for dinner just now! Heeee ate Carl's Jr, then corn muffins from Kenny Rogers. :):) Ohh and bought cakes from Secret Recipe! Food is happy stuff, until you get home and realise that it's all gone to your tummy and thighs. Sigh.

Every tuesday is a Day, and today it's Pink Day!! Heee yesterday I thought I only had 3 pink tops but when I came home and counted I realised I actually have 7! Am more of a bimbo than I think I am. Lots and lots to do before Contract tutorial tmr. Am slowly being crushed by the sheer amount of reading we have to do. On a lighter note, survey from dee! I love book surveys.

1. one book which you have read more than once: The Hours. Cos it is fab.
2. one book you want on a deserted island: Sophie's World. I figure that being stuck on a deserted island with it is the only way I'm going to ever be able to finish it.
3. one book that made you laugh: Confessions of a Shopaholic. Everyone should read it. :)
4. one book that made you cry: Gone With the Wind. I didn't just cry, I bawled.
5. one book you wish you had written: To Kill A Mockingbird. It is brilliant.
6. one book you wish had never been written: Anything by Dickens. Unbelievably boring. Even when I was in a Christmassy mood, I couldn't enjoy The Christmas Carol.
7. one book you are currently reading: Rosie Dunne
8. one book you have been meaning to read: Same as dee - The Bible. I have been putting it off far too long.
9. one book that changed your life: I'm gonna have to say the entire Sweet Valley series. I read it through my formative years.
10. tag 5 people : rah, xiaoyan, nee, jacs, clarisse.

I had a good weekend. :):) Ohh except for the part where on the way home from casuarina curry, while attempting to cross the road, I somehow managed to ram my big toe into the kerb. Now the right slipper of my havaianas has a v conspicuous circle of blood on it and my toe has a v colourful (ugly) plaster on it. :( Over the weekend I received an email which means approx. 8 more hours of work. Still, all things considered, I had a good weekend. (Neumann will tell you, always begin and end with the conclusion.)

Rag photos up here!! http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2102593972

Law Bash last night!! Am still v inhibited when it comes to dancing, though. And the music was crap. But it was fun. It's nice to dress up and go out, esp after a stressful week of school.

Sent jacs off this morn. :(:( Full tribe attendance though, which is good. We also had a v scrumptious farewell dinner last night which consisted of local hawker fare. If I go overseas, the first thing I'll miss is the people. The second will definitely be the food.

The issue of clubbing seems to always be full of complications. Or maybe I just make it so.

Wednesday, August 23, 2006 9:34 PM

Went shopping with beeks and glenda yest after school! Realised that I can't apply the term 'window shopping' to going out anymore, simply cos I can't not buy stuff when I go out. Bought a hairband and a pair of earrings, not a lot but that's cos beeks was restraining me yest. Attended my contract tutorial's introductory session today, scary stuff. Apparently we should, ideally, put in 10 hours of preparation time for each tutorial. That's crazy, but I have a feeling that's something I'm gonna have to get used to.

Tuesday, August 22, 2006 8:33 AM

B&J'd yest after school with JQ & Raffli! Ice cream is good stuff, all the time. But they said the cherry garcia tasted like medicine!! Which it so did not. Cherry garcia rocks k, it's the best of the best. :):) After that I went to the airport to send xiaoyan off. She's going to the Uni of Michigan, the lucky girl. Kind of sad though, to be leaving home and everyone behind. I'll miss her!! Met Min Min and Michelle (alliteration!), both of whom I haven't seen in a long while. I'm gonna be visiting the airport a lot the next one month or so. This sat jacs is leaving for hk, then in september there's rah and jy. Boooo. Oh no it's Stripes Day today, don't know what to wear. I only have one striped top, and I've never worn it, and there's a reason I've never worn it.

Rag ended yesterday on a rather jarring note. I think most of us probably expected the day to end with dinner but we ended up in SGH, worried as anything. The waiting was scary, it really was, but thankfully she's fine now.

Hoho realised I met Nic three times this weekend; yest morn we met for breakfast at macs, yest night he sent me home from SGH and this afternoon we watched The Breakup. The ending of the movie was rather strange in that there was no ending. Romantic comedies really shouldn't end this way. Arthouse films can do the oh-so-abstract thing and leave it for people to guess but romantic comedies are meant to have happy fairytale endings.

MSN is thoroughly distracting. I have a ton of readings to do before tmr's tutorials and lectures but I just can't seem to get started.

Friday, August 18, 2006 9:36 PM

I'm too lazy to think of nice, flowing sentences and paragraphs so I shall just type in point form.
1. The CSS Welcome Tea had really good food.
2. Spent the afternoon at the study room trying to do my case summary and feeling lousy.
3. It's hard to concentrate on doing anything while MSN is on.
4. Ice-cream and mudpie at Island Creamery with pwpw really made my day, even if I felt guilty after that for eating so much.
5. Everyday I find out something new. It's hard to keep up with the social developments; they happen so fast.

Thursday, August 17, 2006 7:59 PM

I first heard the song 'This Never Happened Before' by Paul McCartney while watching The Lake House and fell in love with it. Kind of like the way I fell for 'Fix You' and 'Maybe I'm Amazed' while watching The OC. I love soundtracks. It wouldn't be the same if I'd first heard the song on the radio.

Was walking aimlessly around the house today when I stumbled upon a Choc n Spice plastic bag in the kitchen. Opened it and there was a box full of chocolate chip muffins inside!! Apparently my aunt bought it for us and passed it to my parents when they had lunch this afternoon. Yay I have nice relatives. And the muffins make me ridiculously happy. :):)

Am typing this in the CJ Koh Law Library...

Can't believe that on the third day of school, I'm in the lib before my first lecture. Haha but there are quite a number of raggers here. So mugger. :) Lugged my laptop to school for the first time this morning. Super super heavy! I was so afraid my bag was going to tear. Aiii. I have a laptop backpack but I don't wanna carry it cos it is ugly and will clash with my outfit and I am vain.

Tried to read Chapter 1 of Michael Jones for the Torts lecture today and it's so hard. The sentences are unbelievably long and the words unbelievably cheem. Heee by the time I graduate from law school my english should be damn pro.

Tuesday, August 15, 2006 8:38 AM

First day of school was overwhelming, to say the least. We actually had readings and assignments and homework to do already. And because there was nowhere to hang out due to all the construction still going on, we ended up at the library on our first day of school. As first days go, however, it was not bad cos I was never alone. My timetable is kind of screwed. On tues and fri I have only one lecture which means I'll be spending more time traveling than actually attending the lecture and my wednesdays end at 8.15. Aiiii. But altogether kind of slack lah. Thought that after rag is over I'd be home earlier but that didn't happen; seniors' concert ended late and we went to Adam Road Food Centre after that, and later I waited an age for my bus to come.

You know what? It's really all about timing. If the timing had been different, who knows how things might have turned out?

Yay am gonna buy choc n spice muffins with jgan later before school, can't wait!! They're really really yummy. :)

Sunday, August 13, 2006 10:02 PM

Am typing this from my new laptop!! It's a HP Pavilion. It's supp to be standard size and wt but somehow it seems damn heavy. But I'm getting used to it alr.. And the keys are nice and big, v fun to press.

Went to the new noodle shop at Fong Seng's yest after rag with jgan and clarisse. We walked one big round just to get there but it was worth it; it's a good place to just sit and talk cos they don't chase you away even after your food's gone cold and the restaurant is crowded. Cue several interesting revelations. :)

Went to Thai Express Bistro with my family after church today. It felt good to spend time with them after not having had a proper meal with them in ages and ages. Also, I love the food. :) It's slightly more ex than the regular Thai Express though. Heee after that I met nic and we watched the movie Click. It's actually a more serious movie than I thought. Cried through the second half.

I'm having trouble believing that school starts tmr. My NUS inbox is flooded and apparently we have stuff to read before we attend lecture tmr. Boo. :(

8:56 AM

Am back!! And I can't believe rag is over. It's like after spending weeks with the raggers, hour after hour, it'll be weird not seeing them as often. Rag was fun! All the stunts went up nicely and it was a wonderful feeling, seeing Hailing at the top of the three-tier. :):) We didn't win, but we were happy with ourselves nonetheless. Took silly photos in frozen stunt positions. Thank you, JQ & Patrick, for not dropping me. :)

This week was relatively good. Managed to have dinner with nic on Tues and Wed, met up with g, j, d, rah & beek on Thur for (oyster) omelette and hokkien mee at holland v, and met haz and my ex-colleague on Fri evening.

And, I'll leave you with this haiku, which is the only thing my SP ever gave me:

Cheryl eats pizza
Like a hippo on steroids
Patrick not happy

(Cheryl not happy
Patrick runs far far away
Patrick trips and falls)

Tuesday, August 08, 2006 11:25 AM

Just dropping a quick note before leaving for rag... I've got another rag camp from today till Thursday, and then from Friday to Saturday. Rag is robbing me of my social life and putting a strain on my relationships, which sucks. But it'll be over soon. I think I'll miss rag when it's over though.

Inauguration ceremonies yest were supremely boring. I like the law dean though!! He makes good speeches. :) And I ate lots and lots of junk. Had breakfast, a reception, half a plate of nasi lemak, a reception, ice-cream from Awfully Chocolate, very berry ice-cream from Island Creamery and a slice of cherry choc cake from Awfully Chocolate. Yummy stuff is under-rated. Think I shall bring some Rittersport Rum&Raisin Hazelnut choc to camp. Endorphins!!

Sunday, August 06, 2006 8:19 PM

Met xiaoyan after church today! Hadn't seen her for months and months, and she's now thinner and tanner, the lucky girl. Still the same at heart though. We had lunch at the soba place at Paragon basement. I like soba, it's my fav type of Japanese noodle. We bought dresses from Zara!! :):) So happy. I was seriously contemplating getting both the dresses, but that would have crippled me financially so she got one and I got the other and we're gonna exchange them, heeeee. Bought books from Kinokuniya! Never Let Me Go and Love in the Time of Cholera. And still have $20 worth of vouchers leftover, oh the joy of having book money. :) New Urban Male has nice stuff!!

Hoho the song 'I wish I were a punk rocker' makes me laugh cos when she sings it it sounds like 'I wish I were a prawn cracker'.

8:55 AM

I understand you're upset and I understand why. But please, don't lay on the guilt trip. Push it and apologetic will turn to pissed off.

Went for Douglas's 21st birthday party tmr with the og last night. Realised that the law guys can carry on a conversation which consists entirely of outrageously made-up lies with absolutely straight faces. Maybe that's why they're in law.

Aarh. My life is screwed up.

Tuesday, August 01, 2006 11:33 PM

Law rag ppl are fun to talk to. We have interesting hypothetical-but-maybe-not discussions, bitching-cum-gossip sessions, serious conversations about religion. Over waffles, over brownies with ice-cream, during long car rides, in between stunts and dancing, basically whenever we're together which is, as I said, ALL THE TIME.

Rag camp from tmr till fri. It's really just an excuse to make us dance overnight. Aiiii.

cher
21, in law school and loving it (most of it, at least). a sucker for white roses and fairytale endings, snail mail and pretty cupcakes. emo songs are soul food. tea and chocolate are staples. food is happy stuff. everyone should read to kill a mockingbird and the desiderata, and watch amelie, and bake bread just for the smell of it. walking at night is nice, sometimes.

hello there :)
