It was justin gan's birthday on monday. :):) We had dinner at Xiang Gang Jie sth sth, which is the nice sam lou hor fun place opp my sister's old school. It has nice zi char!! Best of all, it's in amk, which is a v rare treat for us amk dwellers. I walked home! :):) sam lou hor fun / yam ring, bambi and sambal kangkong / sam's don't bluff prawns / photo stolen off jojoy! :)

Today I met beek, peishan and adeline for a bit of shopping. Booo bugis street was so crowded. And shopping with a laptop is v annoying cos you really just don't have the mood to try anything on. Saw a pretty dress! V cheap $10 only but didn't have the colour I want. :(:( And v lousy shop a bit only v tired. BUT! We made up for it by going to pizza hut for dinner. Haha ate until v happy.

ade & peis / summer veg soup & pepsi light / prosperity pizza!! which is v yummy! (and an unphotographed trio meat pizza) / beek & i :)

Then I came home and found my package waiting for me - a pair of jeans that I bought online last yr during the exam period but took damn long to arrive. I'm v sad cos it's UGLY. Feel cheated!! Cos it looked so cute on the model. But then that's their job right. Ohh well. It really is v bad. I thought of throwing a party with the theme: Clothes You Bought and Never Wore (For Good Reason). But then I'd have to wear it.

I am absolutely resenting the fact that despite my deceptively slack timetable, this is turning out to be my un-slackest year ever. I feel like I'm in the midst of exams alr. :(:(

Friday night was re-instated last night! (Thanks to jojoy. :)) We went to Colbar, which is a very quaint place in the middle of nowhere, and when I say quaint I mean kopitiam-quaint not old-english-cottage-quaint. Heee it has purple/green/blue lights over its entrance and foldable tables and tiled flooring. And the drinks are cheap and good! 10 bucks / bottle of cider/ale. Lalala. I'd missed Fri nights. They're an antidote to the so-many-readings-so-little-time syndrome. Hope they're back to stay. :)

check out the blue doors! / bottles and bottles of stuff / jgan & clarisse / a picked egg! which was v sour. / me & jq / ryan (entertainer for the night) & jon

I made spaghetti alla carbonara today!! Haha this is my first time cooking in a very long time. I touched raw meat!!! Lalala. Looks like hokkien mee hor. But there's actually a lot of bacon hidden underneath. Was not supposed to let the egg-and-cheese mixture turn into scrambled egg but my mommy was scared got salmonella so I let it cook a bit haha. And I substituted a lot of things. Like I couldn't find pecorino romano so I used cheddar. And no pancetta so I used good old bacon.
Whee! I feel domestic. Shall try aglio olio next.

This is a Complaining Entry.

1) Mondays and Tuesdays suck. Mondays suck because I spend the whole day (and night) cramming the previous week's readings and frantically (and unsuccessfully) trying to finish both my equity and public law tutorials, both of which are very long. Tuesdays suck because then I have to attend the tutorials, which are about two-hours long and three-hours long respectively, with only about ten minutes in between during which I have time to use the bathroom and move to a different classroom and complain excessively, but not do anything else.

2) We had three hours of hardcore equity today with NO BREAK. My tutor is insane. :(:(

3) Today when we were waiting for 171, exactly five 67s and four 170s passed by.

4) At the risk of sounding middle-aged, INFLATION!!! It is mad. A meal at the food court costs like $7 now.

5) The weather is sapping the life out of everything. It is alternately unbearably hot and rainy. So either you're drenched in sweat or acid rain & mud. Yuck.

Monday, January 21, 2008 11:35 PM

Public law is killing me. Having the tuts for two content-heavy modules on the same day is no joke. :(:(

Sunday, January 20, 2008 11:19 PM

Lalala. Jq and I found a nice new hangout today - b1, bishan lib, where all the children's books are. It has all the books which I'd been looking for in the library but had never been able to find, like The Chronicles of Narnia and The Spiderwick Chronicles and Sherlock Holmes. And it has a lovely fairytale collection. :):) The only downside is that during the weekends it's full of noisy kids and even noisier parents, who kiasu-ly (and inconsiderately) bring stacks and stacks of books to the sofas and leave them there when they're done. And today a dad changed his daughter's rather smelly diaper right next to me. Ohh well. But maybe it'll be okay on weekdays. And the collection of books makes up for it!

I read Winnie the Pooh and The Nutcracker, both illustrated and coloured. :):) Winnie the Pooh was unexpectedly funny and it had the cutest pictures. And did you know, the author wrote it based on the author's son and his stuffed animals? So sweet right. :) And The Nutcracker was unexpectedly well-written. Like the descriptions about the children's christmas presents and toys and Candy Meadow were so vivid and enchanting and lovely. Yay I shall go back there soon.

Ohh and I bought the grey knit dress! Wheeee. :):)

Saturday, January 19, 2008 10:12 PM

This is my food post for this week.
1. Olio Cafe, capellini salmon miso fillet. :):) On the first day of school, I was so bored I resumed reading food blogs (which I had mostly neglected during the hols). Saw this on ieatishootipost, and I had to try it. It was really lovely. :) Everything was well done, the only thing was that somehow a small part of the salmon was really fishy so I had to douse those bits in tabasco sauce to be able to swallow it. Heh.
2. Billy's Grill (or sth like that), combo BBQ chicken, babyback ribs and chargrilled king prawn (yes, just one) with baked potato with sour cream and garlic mash.
3. Dessert at Nihon Mura. It's this place at The Cathay with 99cents sushi. And I love the ordering concept heee. :):) Cheap jap food with especially worth-it dessert. Two scoops of green tea icecream with two cream-filled mochi, red beans, raisins, whipped cream, sliced almonds and strawberry wafers.
4. Pineapple tarts! Which my mommy and I baked today. Wheeee first batch of the season. I really love cny goodies, esp pineapple tarts and bak kwa. :):)

In other news, I tried on a really gorgeous grey knit dress today. I want I want!!!! But it's grey. And my mommy says I shouldn't get new clothes for cny this year cos I've been constantly buying clothes anyway. SIGH. I need my tuition kid to hurry come back!!!

3:30 PM

Boooo now I know why our timetable is so slack. It's cos there are a ton of readings to be done. Really a ton. :(:(:( I think I need like 20 hours just to read in preparation of one public law seminar and then there's the questions themselves which have many many parts. And I have no idea what's going on or where to start for equity. And I can't believe we alr have stuff to research for LCS! Maybe I'll go sch tmr. :(

Friday, January 18, 2008 12:15 PM

Despite the horrid three-hour lectures twice a week, my timetable is absolutely wonderful. :):) I've got a relatively long monday, a medium-lengthed tuesday, and my wednesdays and thursdays each consist only of one 1hr45min lecture in the morning. And my fridays are free!!! :):)

Which explains why I'm at home on a Friday morn, just woken up, loving the entire day stretched out in front of me. :) Yesterday after school we had a leisurely lunch at CurryWok, then came back to school for a 5-hr poker game. (At least, they did. I played 3 hrs till I lost my buy-in then decided to be disciplined and go watch dvds. Haha.) After that we went to this restaurant at Chijmes for winston's birthday dinner... Billy's Grill or sth like that. The food was not bad but the service was bleah. Rather pushy and impatient, and we also had to send back the same main course like 4 times cos they kept getting the side dish wrong. But we had fun. :) And after that dennis offered his place and free drinks, and of course we couldn't decline, so it was a night of silly drinking games (though I drank mostly water haha). :) Happy birthday winston!!

Lalala. Law school is inbreeding.

Tuesday, January 15, 2008 8:20 PM

Maybe I hurt too easily. But if you don't tell me anything, and insist that everything is okay, even when it's not, and even when I ask repeatedly, how am I to think otherwise than the worst?

Monday, January 14, 2008 10:33 PM

BOO. Wish I could read minds.

11:45 AM

YAWN.

First day of school. I CANNOT believe that we are actually having lecture proper. He's actually going through slides, with actual information on them on. Introductory sessions are not supp to be like that. :(:( They're supposed to be his life story in five minutes, a couple of books we need to buy, a very brief overview of what we'll be doing and done. But NO. It's been 50 min but feels like 2389371. And he's just said that it's not time for a break yet. OMG. Three hours of equity & trusts is not fun.

Saturday, January 12, 2008 8:22 PM

I was listening to the radio just now and the deejay (dunno who) was interviewing this local band, B-Quartet. After that, the band performed two songs, Shoebox and Kleptomania, on air. And I was really surprised cos they're REALLY REALLY GOOD. Now, I'm not a big listener of music, let alone local music, but I was really qt blown away. :):)

Thursday, January 10, 2008 9:26 PM

Went cycling at Pulau Ubin today! It was very fun but very tiring. I thought I would cry everytime I saw a slope rising up in front of us. Plus some of the paths were v rocky (covered unevenly with a blanket of stones, and strewn with rocks), and you know a bumpy ride on a bicycle with a super slender seat is not the most comfy thing. And there were parts we had to ride through mud puddles. My bike got stuck in one and my feet landed squarely in the mud. Eewww. And it was super hot; we cycled from 11-1 and then a couple more hours after lunch. Ohh but I learnt how to change gears! And the smooth, gentle downhill slopes were the best. :):) And Chek Jawa was really very pretty. There's a lovely tudor-esque house and a jetty leading from the island. I was thinking it'd be a great place to hold like a wedding or a sweet sixteen party or something, but then it's so hard to get to.

Heee it was v fun, but now my legs are absolutely dying.

heee resting. this was qt early on, and we were qt tired alr.
mich, washing her feet in quarry water!
lunch!!! the best things were the ice-cold drinks. :)
fresh, young thai coconut.
at chek jawa!
caitlin & i, on the ferry back. so sweaty.
b&j's for icecream after!! this is our merlionster. :)

8:17 PM

Last but not least, law peeps. :) Realised that the changes, in terms of appearance, are not quite so drastic since it's only been about a year and a half. Most people look the same. And although some look very different, I think it's more to do with hair than anything else. Ohh well. Maybe I can do one in ten years time, when we're working in law firms and dropping hair like nobody's business, our skins sallow from never seeing the sun, our bellies huge from all-beer-and-no-exercise. june 2006, law camp, when we had known each other abt 4 days.

And that's the end of the catalogue. I realised that I looked basically the same in sn as I do now. BOOOO.

Wednesday, January 09, 2008 9:46 PM

Next, it's hmm the bunch of us. We have no name haha. Also a product of 3/4 unity, we used to be the paus, along with lynn and eeling and ade if I remember correctly. There was da bao and char siew pau and beek was xiao long bao, and I can't remember much else. Don't know why there seems to be a dearth of pics for 2005. And strangely, 4/6 of us are studying law. Haha. dec 2003, sn prom, souriez.
same as above. dee's hair used to be super long!

haha qt unglam actually.

cher
21, in law school and loving it (most of it, at least). a sucker for white roses and fairytale endings, snail mail and pretty cupcakes. emo songs are soul food. tea and chocolate are staples. food is happy stuff. everyone should read to kill a mockingbird and the desiderata, and watch amelie, and bake bread just for the smell of it. walking at night is nice, sometimes.

hello there :)
