Yesterday was the first sunny day in a long while and it so happened that the tribers and I arranged to swim/gym! Haha we are v lucky people. I didn't swim though, only tanned and gymed. Then beeks and I met glenda for lunch at Thai Express! I LOVE Thai Express. I really gotta try sth new next time though; I keep ordering the same 3-4 dishes. Beeks nearly cried eating her tom yam stick noodles. But she perservered and, after many glasses of water, finally managed to finish all her noodles! Yaay. She will be ready for Thailand in no time.

Went to serjing's place (house is too modest a word) for the s09 class reunion after that. Attendance was pretty good, many people went. Brought banana cake! I like banana cake. (: Haha as usual, the guys spent the entire time playing soccer on ps2 and talking army. And jieyu spent the entire time telling lame jokes. It was good catching up with everyone though.

Went out with Nic today. Ate Spageddies! Which I LOVE. Yay lots of good food these few days. I really must try new stuff. Problem is, once I find stuff I like to eat, I keep going back and ordering the same food. Must be more adventurous. Yup. Damn I think I'm getting sick. :(

um. zhinvee and jieyu. an experiment.
my combo cheese manicotti and chicken canelloni! which ROCKS.
nic & his rotisserie sthsth.

12:52 PM

After mj, I got like 5 hours of slp before I woke up to go meet Caitlin and Mich for shopping! Haha we met in town but after browsing around the first shop (Forever21) we decided to adjourn to Bugis. Bought a dress from Bugis Street. V cheap! Yay. I wanna go back again. After that, we met the rest for JQ's birthday party at Blu Jaz. It was strange, there was gender segregation like never before. But after awhile things got better. Was so sleepy throughout the night though so when the rest went to St James I went home. I'm getting less sleep now than during exams. Reflects qt badly on my work-play attitude. Haha. blue jaz. v dark. i am obviously not a v good photographer.

Wednesday night, I finally got my mahjong fix! Haha played till 7am!! Towards the end we were all dying from lack of sleep, but it was v fun. I lost $9 the first round, but recouped my losses in the second, so overall I won $3. JQ was the big winner! Won like $29. He is unbelievably lucky. And poor Mich lost $35. Haha I wanna play again, but my mj kakis are flying off to Bangkok on Sun! :( Hrmph. Nvm I shall make them buy me nice things from Bangkok. uh. at the end of it.
mich & sam, taking a short nap before going home.
at the beginning! the order is screwed up lah. haha they're eating paus. and mich bao-ed.

my pretty tiles!! man tai!

Met up with the tribers at Settler's Cafe yest!! Hadn't seen them in a really long time. Played lots of fun games!! Haha like stupid grab games where we shrieked nearly everytime someone put a card down. Must have been qt noisy and irritating. Ah well. V fun though. Played many many games. We are fickle people. And kiasu; we wanted to try everything. Haha. Ohh and GUESS WHO SHOWED UP. :)
After 4 hrs of games and an hour spent at the food court making plans, WE GOT CAUGHT IN THE RAIN. Some of us had umbrellas but they were practically useless. We ended up taking a bus in the opp direction to the interchange just so we wouldn't have to cross the overhead bridge. So my journey home was 2 hours instead of 1. You know I usually love the rain, but when the monsoon season comes around, I hate it to bits, esp since monsoon season's usually during the hols. It's just neverending. And I want to wear jeans but I can't because they'll get soggy and gross. Urgh.
jacs!! who had cheated us all into thinking she was cold&lonely in hk. :P
peis & i. and cranium! which we won. hoho.
shih, eileen, ade and peis!
beeks, ade & eileen. and Fisch Markt. which is really qt fun once you get the hang of it.
shih & ade! playing taboo.

I've been putting off blogging due to sheer laziness but I think I shall update now, little by little. Umm I shall wait until I'm damn free one day to write a nice long post on Beijing. The Christmas season was turbulent, but thankfully Christmas Day was good. Lazed at home the entire day, then had a simple dinner at home with my family + Nic. Supper at the hk cafe at Kovan with joel, andre & jq, the first time I met the law peeps (not including CSS) in two weeks. Which is an amazingly long time, considering how we all seem to have been attached at the hips since EVER. Joel has happy news! :) Haha. Ask him yourself. On Tuesday I met caitlin, jq, raffli & daniel to watch A Night at the Museum! It was really kind of scary and nerve-wracking, because I am a coward. But it was v funny, after I realised that the scary dino was Rexyyyy. daniel & jq at gelare.
caitlin & i LOVE WAFFLES!

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL! :) And may your lives be filled with peace, joy and love.

Waaa I realised that I've been for 3 masses and 1 service in the past 32 hours. That averages out to one every 8 hours! Quite a lot, even for the Christmas season.

The first mass was at Edward's house; it was followed by a CSS Christmas dinner/bbq and gift exchange. I took some really nice pictures of the altar and Mag's delicious cheesecake and Magic Mark's card tricks but for some reason I can't upload them. Urgh. We had interesting conversations on the law and ethics though. Quite thought-provoking. The second mass was this morning (technically, yest morn), the 4th Sunday of Advent, at my church, Christ the King. This evening I went for service at Calvary BP Church in Jurong East. I can't say that anything was really unexpected or surprising; I've attended Christian churches before. Still, there will inevitably be comparisons and bias and the little tugs of unfamiliarity like where's the crucifix? before I realise that there is none. The people seem pretty nice though. Still. Then I went for midnight mass at CTK. Haha it's qt strange cos midnight mass is actually at 11.30pm. Was feeling very sleepy but it was a good mass; Christmas masses are especially beautiful because of the Christmas hymns.

Booo. Everyone's at Alex's party now. Or out having supper. And I'm at home. I really need to learn how to drive. Lack of transport is a major handicap.

~

See right the thing now is that I'm not sure where it's headed. So I've made the decision. It is set in stone. What next?

You know what? Whatever happens, I have wonderful friends, I really do. Really really really - I thank you all.

10:36 AM

I'm back from Beijing!! Touched down at 5 plus this morn. Haha I'm glad to be back (blog-surfed this morn and realised just how much I missed this past week :(:() though I really enjoyed Beijing. It's really, really pretty. You know how when I see a particularly lovely piece of scenery, I whip out my cam/phone to take a picture of it? I was wanting to do that 24/7. Hoho I have a weakness for bare, wintry tree branches against sky and there was that all around, so I snapped away to my heart's content. Beijing was freezing. I was bundled like a bazhang (about 4-5 layers of clothing + skicap + scarf + gloves) and even then my fingers and toes and ears and nose were quite numb with cold. At some points I gave up on taking photos cos I refused to take off my gloves (I can't do anything with my gloves on; it's like my fingers are retarded or sth). Minus 7 degrees is no joke, especially since I'm feeling cold even here and now in Singapore. I went to Beijing expecting the worst somehow, but it proved to be much better in reality. The people aren't rude, and when you tell them you're from Singapore they're usually very interested to know more about the country. I have to say, though, that the roads there are atrocious, and when I say roads, I mean the driving. Seriously, I think I nearly got knocked down several times. The cars look a mess to me (some even look like they're driving against the flow of traffic) and it's a miracle I did not witness a single accident while I was there. Also, when you're walking along the pavement, your head's always down because you have to look out for spit. It's quite disgusting; for awhile I thought that there were little puddles of ice around before I realised that it was frozen saliva. Yuck. And the salespeople are terrifyingly persistent. But other than these three things, Beijing is a lovely place. It helped that our tourguide's a 'tu sheng tu zhang bei jing dang di ren', which he very proudly proclaimed more than a few times. You can tell he really loves Beijing, which helped us to love it too.

Wheeee gotta get ready to go for lunch now. Shall blog in greater detail (and with photos!) later.

Sometimes you're just tired of waiting for things to happen.

[Cont'd.] Christmas charity at the zoo on Monday morn. Mich and I were assigned to two kids, this really pretty 8-year-old girl and the cutest 3-year-old (who said he didn't like me and stuck to Sam and JB the whole way :(:( ). Was actually really excited to be going to the zoo; hadn't been there in ages. We got to see white tigers and polar bears and the elephant show and horses and jaguars and a tarantula. Among others. Really enjoyed myself, bringing the kids around. They were kind of quiet and shy at first but really opened up later on. They're sweet kids. :) The storytelling back at btc was abysmal. I thought it was a disaster but the kids seemed to love it. I felt kind of bad after that though cos maybe the storyteller wasn't paid. And he had to bear with a room full of bratty uni students who were, throughout his stories, shaking in silent mirth and making mean asides and just managing to restrain ourselves from correcting his grammer/pronunciation. Was really, really unexpectedly tired after the whole thing was over. Had a very satisfying dinner at Al-Ameen followed by a long Journey to the East with the law kings. Who somehow coerced me into making a stupid bet. So now I have to go look for a cookie recipe that will wow the crowd. Urgh.

Got to the chalet pretty late and I was so tired by then that I slept early. And slept so well. :) (Realised that I've been really tired although exams are over. Been going out too much.) Next morning, I went to the beach with my cousins and a few of the adults. Wheeee. I like the beach. And we went bowling! I am a seriously bad bowler. I have yet to hit 50. It's very sad, and my arms are aching now. BBQ that night was really good! Usually I'm not a fan of bbq-ed food but the food was really yummy - prawns and stingray and satay and chicken sausages and sweet potatoes and stuffed taupok and chicken wings and squid and marshmallows. Heeeee I need to go run now. my extended family! uh, some of us, that is.
view from the beach.

[Cont'd.] After my tea, I went to jojoy's house for zhengxi's red green gold birthday party. I have to say this: Jojoy's house is amazing. Seriously, it's like something out of a lifestyle magazine, all dark wood and floor-to-ceiling windows. Think Banyan Tree. There's a koi pond and a pavilion with wicker armchairs looking out across the pool and the garden, and the tables have very pretty flower centrepieces. There's also a working jukebox. Haha I sound super swaku. But, really, it's a very lovely, idyllic place. The food was fantastic. We had pumpkin soup and pasta and salad with feta cheese and $300 beef and jojoy's legendary potato salad and grilled chicken and curry, and chocolate cake & tiramisu for dessert. Ohh not forgetting the bubbly. (:(: And we sat around playing bridge and singing in deep baritones while various people surprised us by accompanying us on the piano with truly quite astonishing skill. And they threw zhengxi, sam & pw into the pool, and this time although we screamed they went ahead with it. And for that we had to bear with pw happily walking around in a flowered towel for the rest of the night. Then it was time to go home. Hoho like Enid Blyton- and they all lived happily ever after.

Who kicked a hole in the sky so the heavens would cry over me?
Who stole the soul from the sun in a world come undone at the seams?

Let there be love
Let there be love

I hope the weather is calm as you sail up your heavenly stream
Suspended clear in the sky are the words that we sing in our dreams

Let there be love
Let there be love
Let there be love
Let there be love

Come on Baby Blue
Shake up your tired eyes
The world is waiting for you
May all your dreaming fill the empty sky
But if it makes you happy
Keep on clapping
Just remember I'll be by your side
And if you dont let go it's gonna pass you by

~ Let there be love, Oasis

EXAMS ARE OVER!!! Whee. :):) Somehow I felt happier and higher before the paper than after though. May have to do with the fact that the hypos were CRAP. But still. Happyyyyy. :) Had a yummy sushi dinner and shopped high-end (without buying anything), then went to timbre. All I can say is, it was good- the company of friends, great music, much-awaited drinks, laughter; the perfect end to two weeks of exam hell. Beef hor fun at Geylang after, which was good except for THE CATS.

Had a v v nice dinner tonight at Silkroad at Amara Hotel with Nic and his family. Lalalalala. V yummy peking duck, among other things. Yaaaay. Realised that I've had beef hor fun in 3 different places 3 nights in a row. I LOVE post-exams. the erdinger guys + sam, who drank something PINK.
joel, yuankai & mich!!
mich & i. :)
sam, john & jojoy.
haha shopping for gucci shades.
Booooo. They're at mich's house now having a mahjong marathon. I wanna go but gotta get slp. Goodnight. :)

Contract is depressing; today I ate a whole lot of nutella for endorphins.

I don't get a THING.

:(

I keep trying to comfort myself with the thought that it's only 30%.

But still.

Sigh.

Tuesday, December 05, 2006 6:00 PM

Just had an extra tutorial for contract. It was HORRIBLE. We spent 45 min doing qns from last yr's test, and I had no idea at all how to answer so I wrote rubbish. My hypo answer was (figuratively) torn to shreds. Feel hugely demoralised. URGH.

Monday, December 04, 2006 6:45 PM

I have this urge to watch Amelie. Sigh. The first time I saw the poster I thought it was a horror movie. But's actually the BEST MOVIE EVER.
The plot of Never Let Me Go is really intriguing. But suspense is bad when you've self-imposed a restriction reading non-textbooks/lecture notes. The characters are rather unlikable though. Hmph.
I don't like Lexis. Westlaw is much less confusing.
Random stuff, because I am bored and hungry.

Sunday, December 03, 2006 1:31 PM

Torts test yesterday was HORRIBLE. Am not going to say more about it except that I got a huge shock when I saw the qns. Urgh. Modestos lunch at Elizabeth Hotel after that considerably cheered me up though. :) Once again, it's the impromptu things that get the biggest response. About 20 ppl turned up even though there's still contract next fri.christine, daniel & weijian. and the pasta, which was really good, esp the cheesey one. daniel & wj are obviously not paying attention to the cam.
mich & caitlin!
our table. look at the FOOD!
haha free flow of bread. v nice and warm and herby.
the dessert!! which was to die for.
Haha after that I went to meet Nic. Was too full for dinner so I just koped some baked rice off his plate. Qt yummy; next time I go vilage I shall order that. And we watched Flags of Our Fathers!! Not a bad movie. Qt gory at some points but then that's what hands are for. I like Ryan Philippe!! In the show he's this nice sweet boy-next-door. :):)

cher
21, in law school and loving it (most of it, at least). a sucker for white roses and fairytale endings, snail mail and pretty cupcakes. emo songs are soul food. tea and chocolate are staples. food is happy stuff. everyone should read to kill a mockingbird and the desiderata, and watch amelie, and bake bread just for the smell of it. walking at night is nice, sometimes.

hello there :)
